Mr Pong Sena and Herve
A former soldier Mr Pong Sena saw many displaced and parentless children when he was in the army and In 2006 he decided that he wanted to do something about it. He began working with the orphaned children in his Sangkat, or district, and went on to start the Chres Village School and Orphanage to provide an education for children from poor local families and a home for orphans.
Herve, the owner of Quad Adventure Cambodia, found the school when researching routes for his tours and decided to make it a regular stop. “It was so touching to see this one man and what was left of his family trying to care for all the children in the area” explains Herve, “I decided I wanted to do something to help”. Early in 2008 Herve became elected to the board of directors and with the help of travellers who take tours with Quad Adventure they have now built a new school building, bought clothes, food and other supplies to help support the project.
